Optics and a small business balanced scorecard

Growth (and success!) can be easily measured through established metrics and when done so through a balanced scorecard, a wholistic appreciation of what needs improvement comes easily.

Without retreating to a spreadsheet, one can observe and appreciate how things are going:

• Are your customers smiling?

• Do your employees linger a little longer after the work is done?

• Is your leadership & management barometer rising?

Metrics, Key Performance Indicators, Objectives and Key Results – they all matter, but when you look around, does progress show up visually and emotionally? It’s easy to judge performance by the numbers alone, but they don’t provide the best assessment. For small businesses, success is built and scaled on quality, not quantity.

If the quality of your business experience (for customers, employees, and leadership) doesn’t pass the visual test, it’s definitely not going to pass the balanced scorecard review.

It's as simple as saying "Thank you" to an employee.
